I love both parts especially which values and commitments you chose to illustrate. Will you be attending IHI in March? I'm co-teaching a workshop you might appreciate.

I love these calligraphic samples. It’s amazing how many ways thoughts can be defined visually. I was just speaking with my son in law Ryan (Shuangyi’s husband) about various levels of being able to visualize what someone else is describing. Shuangyi, for instance has a synesthesia where musical chords show up, each as a distinct color arrangement that has remained consistent for years; this has allowed her to memorize complex zither compositions because the visual aspect of each chord enhances memory. I told Ryan I’d recently met a woman who had no capability to form a mental image of anything, including faces. Before she found out that she had aphantasia, she always thought other people were talking metaphorically when describing dreams, or memorable scenes from a trip. So I imagine how difficult it would be to memorize a primarily pictographic alphabet where the visual symbology referencing another object (a heart, for instance) cannot be conjured without a functional ‘mind’s eye’. Thank you for your thoughtful posts. Happy Valentines Day. D
